There's a very specific reason why I decided to write about air conditioners. Are you guys ready for a "feel good" story? Don't worry. You won't hurt my feelings if you prefer to get right to my list of the Best Air Conditioners. Just scroll past the short story below to see my list or go all the way to the end for my video!
So... my "office" is basically a shed that's detached from my house. I have a fan and an a/c window unit.
Under normal circumstances, that would be more than enough to keep it
cool in here. However, when you throw in the fact that I live in
Florida and it's hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk right now, my 5
year old window unit just wasn't cutting it.
So...
my son-in-law walked into my office yesterday afternoon and he
immediately asked me what was wrong. I couldn't understand why he was
asking me such a strange question. Aside from feeling like I was
sitting inside an oven, there was truly nothing wrong. So, when I asked
him why he was asking me such a strange question, he proceeded to tell
me my face was beat red and I looked like I just ran a marathon. Anyone
who knows me knows better than that! If I'm running anywhere, it's
because someone is chasing me!
So,
today I was inside vacuuming up the 45 pounds of hair my dogs seem to
shed every year at this time and I see my son-in-law walk past the
window with a huge box. He comes in the door with a brand new A/C window unit
and said to me: "I can't stand seeing you back there all red-faced and
stuff". While I can't say I was shocked (he's always doing thoughtful
things for me), I was 100% elated! How lucky am I to have a baby girl
who found such a kind, generous, loving young man?
So... I hope you enjoy my Best Air Conditioners blog even more now that you know what inspired it ♥ As
promised, here are the Best Air Conditioners on the market today based
on my review of consumer reviews, feedback, buying history, etc...
Enjoy!
This
is the type of air conditioner I use for my office which is 12 x 16.
I've always opted for the "small room" units. Dependent upon the
quality and size of the unit, these can cool up to 650 square feet with
no problem whatsoever. They're also the cheapest of your 3 options and
installation isn't as difficult as you think it might be. When someone
thinks of installing a window unit, they automatically assume the worst. It's really not that bad guys. I assure you!
If you don't have the time, energy or window space, a portable air conditioner might be a better option for you. However, with convenience comes cost. Portable air conditioners are a bit more expensive than window air conditioners and don't quite meet the cooling capacity of a window unit. These will cool a little over 500 feet depending on the unit.
This
is the closest you'll get to a central air conditioning system.
They're also the most expensive of the 3. The good news? You don't
need a window to install a split system
and there's no duct work involved! You basically have your compressor
outside and the actual unit inside. If you're not familiar with the
process of installing split systems,
you may want to hire a professional. Amazon actually has a home
maintenance service where you can hire someone (with reviews) to do the
work for you. You can check it out here. I just recently found out about this service from Amazon and I absolutely love it!
